More specialist services are available by appointment at designated
times. These include…
Acupuncture for pain relief by arrangement with
Dr Elder
Asthma Clinic /COPD Clinic run by Practice Nurse
who specialises in asthma and COPD, for follow up and advice.
Cervical Cytology (smear tests) usually done by
the Practice Nurse.
Child Health Development this service provided
by the GP and Health Visiting Team.
Childhood Vaccinations given by the Practice
Nurse.
Diabetes Clinic run by Practice Nurse who specialises in Diabetes.
For follow up and advice.
Emergency Contraception – available each
morning on request from the Practice Nurse. If you wish, this can
be on an anonymous basis. Confidentiality is assured.
Family Planning with Family Planning trained
practice nurse. Held alternate Wednesdays 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
For advice on all methods of contraception, relationship issues
and general sexual health issues. All methods including IUCDs (coils)
and implants are available.
Health promotion and dietary advice with Health
Care Assistant or Practice Nurse.
Heart Disease, stroke prevention and hypertension.
Routine follow up care is provided by the Practice Nurse supported
by the GP.
Maternity Services the Doctors share antenatal
and postnatal care with the midwife.
Minor Injuries for assessment, treatment or onward
referral.
Minor Surgery by arrangement with the Doctor.
Smoking Cessation support and advice are given by the Practice Nurse. Please complete the Smoking Cessation Form
Teenage Health – these sessions provide
confidential sexual health, contraception and relationship advice
for all young people including under 16s.
N.B. The surgery is part of a scheme for the provision of free
condoms.
Travel Clinic (Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre)We offer a comprehensive foreign travel immunisation service including Yellow Fever. Ideally you should arrange an appointment six weeks before travelling as some vaccinations are a course of three separate injections. Most travel vaccinations are available from the NHS but a few are not so for these there will be a fee payable. Please complete a Travel Questionnaire . The Travel Clinic Nurse will then give you details of your travel requirements.
PRIVATE SERVICES
The surgery offers a range of non NHS services for which
we charge the standard fee recommended by the British Medical Association.
Such services include medicals for employment, driving and insurance,
completion of insurance claims, holiday cancellation claims, passport
applications and letters for fitness for travel/sport etc. Our reception
staff will give you details of fees payable and any appointment
necessary.
SICKNESS CERTIFICATES
Doctors are not obliged to issue sick notes for a period of absence
from work of less than 7 days. After 3 days absence you should obtain
a self certification from your employer.
